Advances in VLSI technology and the increasing availability of digital transmission

With application of VLSI technology such sophisticated source codecs can be realized
0 C  D& F+ }9 G& ]economically. A novel DCT/IDCT ASIC chip for video codec in real time has been designed
1 j, ~8 M/ p/ W8 S6 iand tested using Ipm CMOS standard cell technology. This chip meets the stringent
' n8 q, w. N0 j" Z: Qrequirement of a low bit rate codec standards proposed by CCITT.
