ABSTRACT
! i4 _ }" A9 q) JIn this paper, we present a new microfabricated
i9 {# a' M: d9 [. B8 H% ]orthogonal fluxgate sensor structure. The sensor9 ^$ Y0 {- u# i6 \4 ~ ]* Y; R
consists of an electroplated copper excitation rod! G7 a3 r- d; L- G: @7 F |
surrounded by an electroplated permalloy layer and has* z* J4 i% s% r2 g4 K
planar pick-up coils for signal detection. The use of
# a. Z! p% D$ K6 u3 c7 ]electroplating leads to a low-cost fabrication process. L8 C$ q. l# T& Z
and the use of planar pick-up coils provides easy0 U3 v4 f; t9 x5 O5 D! a
integration with CMOS processes. The fabricated
% n8 J' W0 _' }% Esensor has an excitation independent linear range of1 m( l. }7 o1 ^
±100 μT, a sensitivity of 280 μV/mT, and an average
7 O* b9 F9 V: G2 [power dissipation of 0.8 mW for 30 mA-peak2 f `$ ?! Y, b9 v! _$ o1 p, k
sinusoidal excitation current at 100 kHz frequency.
